8. Using the right lens
A lens is a must for portrait photo shoots. So, if you feel that just a casual picture would earn you the right shot, the time is right to rethink on your strategy. You will require a lens to bring out the depth of your subject. The decision to use a particular lens is totally up to you.
However, while making a choice, keep in mind the scenario you would be shooting in. You may use a wide-angle lens if the background is of importance, else you may pick a 105 mm telephoto lens. Experts suggest 70-200 mm telephoto lens for tight pictures, as it allows you to zoom and focus on the subject reducing background distractions.
